The Veil First-Run Survival Guide

Exploring the maze in The Veil requires steady preparation. The outer gates open at night, and heading into the dark drains your Sanity. If your Sanity meter empties completely, your character dies and loses Prestige.

Identify the Runner Outpost resting area by looking for its raised wooden structures, supply barrels, and illuminated hanging lanterns. Deepshaken ↗

Always find a return route before fighting deeper enemies. Unlocking Obelisks lets you fast-travel back to that landmark on a 60-second cooldown. If your health or Sanity gets low, head to a lit campfire or a Runner Outpost to recover, or fast-travel back to safety.

  1. Pack Sanity recovery

Carry Sanity Potions and locate lit campfires or Runner Outposts where your Sanity recovers.

  2. Practice the Weave defense

Press F on PC to dodge enemy attacks, and practice your timing against simple mobs before taking on groups.

  3. Tag Obelisk waypoints

Interact with Obelisks you find to unlock fast travel points for future runs.

The Veil Main Quest Progression Guides

Follow the exact task shown in your quest HUD. For example, Bobby requires Fire Essence deliveries before opening the Smoldering Horn quest. Confusing a named monster like Ancient Bones with normal bone drops, or talking to the wrong NPC, stalls your progress.

Crypt Runner objectives bring separate travel and Silver costs. Check your current quest stage on your HUD, and follow known landmarks rather than wandering blindly through the fog.

Class Unlock Trials & Weapon Mastery

Class unlocks and weapon Mastery solve two different goals in The Veil. Unlocking a class gives you unique combat skills and mechanics through specific Sins, Offerings, or trials. Weapon Mastery trains you to equip Legendary weapons in Melee, Casting, or Summoning.

Work on one goal at a time. The Marauder path requires a timed 3-minute run to Echo Hold, the Cultist trial takes you to the Crypt, and the Duskwing path requires a hunt tied to Asmodeus. Once you unlock multiple classes, you can build a Hybrid setup by mixing your unlocked Dash, Aura, and Ability slots.
